Heimdall
Heimdall is an “Application Dashboard”.
Basically it's a way of creating a simple “start page” for your web browser, containing links your favourite web sites. Some web browsers have this type of functionality built-in, but if you often use different devices to access the Internet, you might want to see the same “start page” no matter where you are or which phone or tablet or PC you're using.
Heimdall is easy to set up and also has some special boxes for some types of links that allow you to see the status of some services, or other extra information. This is great if you run your own web sites and services. Heimdall can show you if services are up and running at a glance, rather than having to visit each of them.
Heimdall is easy to install on TrueNAS as it is one of the Plugins supported by the open source community. Simply log in to your TrueNAS configuration portal, go to Plugins and select the Community collection. Here you'll see many different plugins. Scroll the list until you find Heimdall and click the Install button. Then just fill in a few simple fields and hit the Save button to create a new Jail containing the Heimdall installation.
Each Jail is isolated from other Jails, VM's and the TrueNAS system itself. This provides a simple way to compartmentalise installed software, so each application can be assigned its own quotas, and can be turned on/off as required using your TrueNAS portal.
